I actually met Alex when he was looking for an electrician to talk about wiring power for a home studio project. What started as a quick conversation about electrical work turned into a massive “geek-out” session, We talked about recording gear, studio acoustics, and the best ways to keep the creative juices flowing while also honoring our respective gear-acquisition-syndromes.

Since that fateful first meeting, Alex has become an incredible resource and trusted advisor for me in my own home studio. He’s helped me refine my recording workflow in Logic Pro, dial in the integration of my audio interface and outboard gear, and has helped me use effect plug-ins more intentionally. He’s also been a sounding board for my mix decisions and someone I can rely upon to give honest, actionable feedback.

We’ve done everything from experimenting with mic placements on my drum kit to breaking down mixes to see what’s really working. Alex also helped me make smart gear choices— figuring out what’s worth the money and what’s just hype. This has saved me from a lot of expensive trial and error. Throughout the work we’ve done, he’s shared that my early / raw results were already quite good, and that I have a solid ear for what I’m doing. That meant a lot, and it helped me learn to trust my gut ear.

Since we started working together, my confidence and results have both gone way up. My mixes sound tighter and more professional, and I’ve even started taking on recording and mixing projects for other artists — including TrashMan and some friends in my circle. Alex even joined me at Gradwell House Recording Studio to assist on my band’s latest EP sessions, which was such a big help and certainly helped improve the final results.

Alex has a rare mix of technical know-how, musical sensibility, and an ability to teach in ways that really stick. He doesn’t just fix problems — he helps you understand why something works, so you can trust your own ears and make better creative decisions.
